Be A Furry Someone’s Christmas Miracle

As I am eagerly working my way through our Christmas gift purchases for family and close friends, I can’t help but think about all of those that may have a new puppy or kitten on their list. What an exciting time, deciding to bring a new furry family member into your home.  Here are a few things to consider before checking that particular gift off your list:

  1. Puppies and kittens only stay small and extra cute for a short period so you should always consider adopting an adult dog or cat. Adult dogs and cats have more predictable personalities, likes, dislikes, temperament, and most are already housebroken.
  2. Adopting a new furry family member is so much fun around the holidays but deciding to bring one into your home should be a lifetime commitment. It is very important to consider your willingness to care for your new critter for the next 10 or even 20 years and when they get old or sick and really need you. Will you truly be able to be their forever home?
  3. There are lots of puppies, kittens, cats, and dogs (including purebreds!) at shelters just waiting for their forever homes. You could be their Christmas miracle by providing them with a loving home that they may never have a chance to know without you.  Imagine the joy they must feel leaving a shelter and finding themselves in a warm, quiet, loving home. Not to mention the joy it will bring you knowing you helped save a life this holiday season!

Congrats in advance on your new furry family member – – please consider adopting and saving a life.  Check out your local shelters for adoption hours, holiday open houses, and adoption specials.  And don’t forget that you have the chance to be a furry someone’s Christmas miracle!
